Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to Chief Correspondent to Congress. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. She traveled along with Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues including and the Iran Contra scandal.
